Embark on a musical journey through the Balkans to the Middle East, beginning in the Sephardi community of Sarajevo and winding through Salonica and Jerusalem. Tales from the Forgotten Kingdom is a sonic adventure masterfully brought to life by the Guy Mendilow Ensemble, an award-winning quintet of world-class musicians with members hailing from Israel, Palestine, Argentina, Japan, and the USA. Epic tales of love lost to the seas and the intrigue of kings abound in arrangements of Ladino songs that crackle with vivid musical storytelling.
The evening will include a conversation with Guy Mendilow facilitated by Prof. Devin Naar, chair of the Sephardic Studies Program and Assistant Professor of History at the University of Washington.
