The Modern Hebrew curriculum at UW is based on the textbook Ivrit Min Hahathalah (“Hebrew from Scratch”), which was developed by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The first year of modern Hebrew at the University of Washington covers material from Level I and is roughly equivalent to Level Aleph at the ulpan (intensive language courses) offered at Hebrew University.
