“Then He will say: where are their gods?” (Dt.32:37)—

R. Judah applies this verse in relation to Israel,

but R. Nehemiah applies it in relation to the nations of the world.

R. Judah says:

In the future, Israel is destined to

ask the nations of the world:

What happened to your Consuls and Generals?²
