Get to know Professor Michael Rosenthal, Chair and Professor of the Department of Philosophy, and Jewish Studies faculty member, through informal conversation over dinner.
Prof. Rosenthal teaches and publishes in the areas of early modern philosophy, ethics, political philosophy, and Jewish philosophy. His current research focuses on the philosophy of Benedict (Baruch) Spinoza, a Dutch philosopher of Sephardic Portuguese origin. Spinoza’s writing lay the groundwork for the 18th-century Enlightenment and modern biblical criticism, including modern conceptions of the self and the universe.
